Summer training in Texas

More than 2 weeks ago I packed my bags – and my family’s – to head Stateside for an action-packed summer. Soon after we arrived we went hiking in Maine, participated in a 4th of July parade, swam in rivers and lakes and spent memorable days with family.

Now my next level of Pilates training with John Gossett begins. John owns Pilates Concepts of Houston and he taught me Pilates Fundamentals nearly 10 years ago. It’s fortuitous to learn from him at this stage in my professional development because instead of teaching me how to engage the core during the hundred we can talk about things like optimal spring tension on the Reformer during leg circles. It reminds me of learning ballets from directors who worked with exceptional choreographers. John has trained with the masters in the field.

His studio bustles with clients and instructors busy with 1-1 work on the Cadillac, Reformer and Chair. It’s as much fun to hear them at work as it is to do exercises myself. Today I felt my inner thighs more than ever during the spine stretch, and I can’t wait to find out what muscles really feel it during the next session.

Of course I look forward to sharing all of this with you back at D4 Pilates, too!
